About Daniel

Daniel is a London based Musical Director having studied at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts following his Sport & Exercise Sciences degree at The University of Birmingham, majoring in cardiovascular & respiratory physiology.

Daniel is heavily involved with new musical theatre writing and particularly with actor-musicianship. His dramaturgical knowledge and analytical skills enable him to dissect music and text and pin-point areas for improvement; combining musical support in an arranging and orchestration capacity in line with the storytelling. His excellent vocal awareness as a vocal coach also enables him to direct singers in finding truth in the selection of their vocal qualities, and looking after a company.

A favourite credit of his was MD and orchestrator/arranger in developing The Return of the Soldier at The Hope Mill Theatre with Aria Ents and composer Charles Miller in Manchester. He co-wrote, orchestrated and developed the London fringe hit Paper Hearts; and worked on The Bow Maker: a new musical by Finn Anderson and Tania Azevedo in collaboration with The National Theatre of Scotland.

 

He has worked on a large number of new writing workshops; including Making a Murderer, Poppies, 1446: A Korean Musical, The Lost Ones, The Witches and The Singing Mice and Half-Broken Things.

He was also involved with 3 different projects at BEAM 2018 for new musicals. He works with NEXT UK: a concert series showcasing new musical theatre writing in London. Other professional credits include: Oliver!, Songs For A New World, Hello Again, Rent, Loserville, I Sing and Into the Woods.

He has co-created ‘The Voice Boys’ with Tom Milner & Koala Creative. A crowd pleasing mashup of all the best popular songs across the decades as a Guest Entertainment show. He also works with ‘Noise Hook’, creating shows and music for cruise ships.

Daniel is a Musical Supervisor for ‘Imagine Theatre’ and works on their pantomimes every year, arranging and producing music for both fully tracked and live performances up and down the country. He also teaches at ‘The London School of Musical Theatre’, ‘Tring’ and ‘Mountview’ as an external MD.

Daniel works as a vocal technique and Acting Through Song coach, teaching privately across the country and on Zoom. He also takes audition workshops with ‘Kelleanne’ alongside creatives and producers such as Katy Lipson, Selladoor and Andrew Keates.

As well as playing for auditions, concerts and cabarets, Dan deps on Musicals as and when needed. He is currently depping on Two Strangers at the Criterion Theatre (West End).
